Intrepid Workshop - ASEG PESA

G1: Tensor Processing: Gradient Processing

This course provides participants with an introduction to quality control, gridding and filtering of vector and full tensor datasets. You will learn to assess the quality of a tensor survey, interpret tensor data and optimise the signal content through linear differential de-noising [MITRE] and other methods.

Saturday 21 August 2010
8.30 am - 5 pm
Crowne Plaza, Darling Harbour

GeoModeller Workshop - ASEG PESA

G6: GeoModeller: Building a 3D Geology Model - Reconciled with Gravity / Magnetic Tensor Data

This one day workshop will initially introduce the 3D GeoModeller approach to building a 3D geology model. Users will add new geology data, and revise their interpretive ideas, and will learn that geology models can be easily revised and improved.

Friday 27 August 2010
8.30 am - 5 pm
Crowne Plaza, Darling Harbour

Professional Levelling

Posted by Des. Posted on Tuesday 15 April 2008.

Levelling methods for a network of lines and ties are traditionally used. Extensions to these methods to encompass appropriate new thinking in object-oriented data handling, leads to novel algorithms for heading, altitude and loop corrections.
Self weight and poor aircraft compensation cause a class of error to remain in your survey data for the newer data types being gathered. This includes magnetic gradients and gravity tensors. We have extended our levelling to analyse and systematically report on a full vector and tensor basis, in the 4 primary directions data is acquired in a standard survey. This includes full rotational parts of this observed signal. This report guides us towards another way of improving our survey data by being able to remove a systematic error.
Loop errors come initially from traditional surveying. A least squares minimization of the misclosure errors at each cross-over point is now available for Full Tensor Data.
An extension for joint B field and FTGMag is in preparation.
